WELCOME TO 2020

Dear Parents/Carers,

Welcome to the 2020 school year! Staff will be resuming on Tuesday 28th January – the office will be open all day. Students have been given appointment times for Wednesay 29th January to complete the Maths Assessment Interview (MAI) and all students commence at 8.40am on Thursday 30th January in their regular classes.

Please be aware that we have had building works done over the holidays (this should be fully completed by the time the children return). The children’s toilets are now three unisex toilets rather than two female and two male. One of the toilets is an accessible toilet and one is an ambulant toilet for anyone on crutches. If you are in, take a look to see how it has changed. We are still hopeful that the kitchenette will be completed very soon. Once this is done we can begin using it for class cooking.

Our whole school theme for this term is: “Building Community – We Belong”. A sense of belonging is a human need, just like the need for food and shelter. Feeling that you belong improves your wellbeing, motivation, health and happiness. We are going to explore how we belong and actively work towards the things we can do to make our community strong. This follows on from our Australia Day celebrations.

Sports days this term will be on Mondays and Wednesdays, although when swimming commences for students in years 2-6, students in those year levels will be able to wear sports uniform on swimming days if preferred. Swimming for years 2-6 commences on 10th February (note to come). There will be four Prep rest days on the Wednesday to allow for our Preps to reenergise! The last rest day is the 26th February.

Just a reminder to download the school app. if you haven’t already. This is our main form of communication. Calendar dates are included on this and reminders and notifications are sent out. The newsletter is also available from the app. Although the P & F Facebook page is handy for parents, it is not the official school communication and is administered by P & F. Classroom teachers will set up Class Dojo again for this year – please accept this when asked as it is a great form of direct communication between you and your child’s classroom teacher.

We are looking forward to seeing everyone again and hope you have all had a wonderful break.

Regards

Jenny
